Buying a home in Eugene, Oregon might not be the first choice for many Americans looking for a fresh start in a new city, but it could just be the right choice for you. As the second largest city in the state, Eugene is full of great opportunities for employment, education and recreation. While you could move to a place like Yonge and Bloor and be at the center of a major metropolis, Eugene combines the city atmosphere with natural beauty and striking landscapes. Come and look at the homes available in Eugene and it is sure to open your mind to the city's possibilities.

Home prices in Eugene are also quite reasonable, with homes selling for an average of $50,000 lower than you would pay for a similar style home in Oregon's largest city of Portland. The average listing price for a home in Eugene is currently around $340,000 while homes are selling closer to the median price of $222,000. When compared with similar-sized cities across the continent, like with a house for sale in Arlington, these prices are standard on the side of being good for the buyer.

Homes on the southeast side of the city, in the neighborhoods of Laurel Hill and Fairmont are seen as being higher on the price scale, while homes in Bethel-Danebo are at the bottom of that scale. Real estate in the downtown core is also slightly more expensive; but this is normal due to the convenience of living in the center of the city. You will see a similar division of prices all the way up to Rosedale homes.

The average price per square foot in Eugene is $157. This is a little more than an eight percent drop from the same time last year, but is a relatively small decline when compared to some other cities in America that were hit much worse by the real estate crisis. If you're selling your current home with a Toronto beaches real estate agent even they can likely tell you that the market in Eugene is looking as solid as it could at this point. That is a good sign for returns on your home investment in the future.

As far as home styles go, you will not find a lack of options in Eugene. If you've been flipping through posh decorating magazines and have fallen in love with New York condos or Leslieville estate homes, check out the Westside of the city. If it's a more modest start-up home that you're after, there are some great properties available in beautiful South Hills.

Eugene is worth a spot on anyone's list of potential new hometowns. Come for a visit to this amazing city and you may choose to extend that visit into a whole new life.
